Welcome to HudsonValleyGirl.com
Share some of my favorite moments and discoveries with me from the charming Hudson Valley region.
I am a fashion design professional, freelance writer, local tourism enthusiast and world traveler. After many years of wanting a new way to share some of my many interests, it made sense to now have this blog where I connect all the things I love from one my most cherished places of all.
I am from the woodsy hills of Pomona, a small town in New York’s smallest county, Rockland. Like most, you’ll need a map to find it and GPS to get there, but it’s where I called home for many years, and in a way it still is. Although it’s within 1 hour of New York City, Pomona felt a world away. It’s a place where you can count on 3 glorious things; peace and quiet, the smell of firewood in the air, and stars that light up the night sky.
These days I reside in the concrete jungle of Manhattan. Call it what you like, it’s unique onto itself. It’s loud, busy, has people going and coming all day long, but it’s well…home for now. And it’s where I met my wonderfully doting husband so it’s got that going for it!
To be clear, I absolutely love New York City. There’s endless things to say about it, and yet, it’s equally indescribable. It’s where I attended college, built my 15+ year fashion career, met unforgettable people, enjoyed the best food in the world and finally mastered the art of parallel parking. I might add that ‘driving like a New Yorker’ is also an art, which is a title I’m quite proud of!
So where am I from? I always pause at this question. All in all, I am from the beautiful, colorful, magical Hudson Valley. It’s a corner of this world that I genuinely love and miss every time I’m away. It is all here…culture, gastronomy, architecture, history, the performing arts…I can go on and on. Above all else it’s breathtaking in beauty from the Adirondeck mountain tops to Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan. It is undoubtedly one of the most stunning regions of the world, a fact I continue to appreciate year after year.
This is where I call home, where I dream, where I plan, where I have the most fun, where I will always long to be. I am a proud Hudson Valley girl, and I love to blog about it!
